Message from the SCIB President

Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Growth and Transformation

Looking back at 2024, we have witnessed a remarkable recovery and expansion in the business events sector. The post-pandemic momentum has been strong, with new trends reshaping our industry. Remote work has changed the way we do business and also extended stays at event destinations, fostering a seamless blend of business and leisure – a trend that continues to shape Switzerland’s appeal as a premier MICE destination.

Outlook for 2025: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities

As we look ahead to 2025, Europe’s business events landscape is evolving, with a greater focus on regional gatherings and sustainable practices. While local events are on the rise, we must not overlook the opportunities from overseas markets, which remain a key driver for growth.

Switzerland stands at a crossroads, facing both challenges and opportunities. On one hand, increasing competition from global destinations, economic uncertainties, and sustainability regulations require us to adapt and innovate. On the other hand, our strengths—world-class infrastructure, reputation for excellence, and a growing demand for high-quality, sustainable events—position us well to thrive in this dynamic environment.

Our mission remains clear: to create exceptional value for our clients while ensuring a balanced and resilient business events ecosystem. By staying agile, embracing innovation, and strengthening global connections, we can turn challenges into opportunities and drive mutual success.

Thanks

Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to Barbra Albrecht and her team for the excellent engagement. I would also like to thank my fellow SCIB board members for their passionate commitment to our industry, namely Reto Branschi (Davos Klosters), Thomas Wüthrich (Zürich), Marco Willa (SWISS) and from Switzerland Tourism, Simon Bosshart and André Hefti and welcome Julia Wetter-Studinka (SWISS) as a new member of the SCIB Board. And last but not least, I would like to thank our experts for their valuable operational input: Isaline Grichting (Lucerne Convention Bureau), Samuel Righetti (Ticino Convention Bureau) and Bäbu Rhyn (SCIB).
