Tourism zones & regions

Mountain regions attracted the most visitors, capturing 41% of all overnights, followed by big cities (31%), small cities (15%), and the countryside (13%).

The top five tourism regions by overnight volume were Zurich Region (17%), Bern Region (14%), Grisons (13%), Valais (10%), and Lucerne – Lake Lucerne Region (10%). Zurich Region alone generated over 7.5 million overnights. The top five places were Zurich, Geneva, Zermatt, Basel, and Lucerne.
